Webcounter.cc Description:
Webcounter.cc is a Browser Hijack Object that sets your default homepage and search pages to a site called in.webcounter.cc. It also opens Internet Explorer popup windows displaying in.webcounter.cc. On logon, Windows error messages are displayed, stating that "fntldr.exe cannot be found."

To uninstall Webcounter.cc:
- Terminate the process in TaskManager:
soundmx.exe
- Click Start > Run . Type regedit . Then click OK . Navigate to the subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
delete the value: "soundmx.exe",
navigate to the subkey: HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Styles
delete "User Stylesheet", change "Use My Stylesheet" to 0.
- Find hosts file in Explorer and open it with Notepad, look for the following line and delete it if found:
1089288654 auto.search.msn.com
- Click Start > Run. Type edit c:\windows\win.ini, and then click OK. In the [windows] section of the file, look for a line similar to:
run=fntldr.exe
- Remove the file in Explorer:
soundmx.exe
However, a few of registry entries
may be left
behind deleting. You can ask for Spyware Doctor to clean up.
