WinTools Description:
Wintools seems to be a variant of HuntBar.
It installs a Browser Helper Object, a
URLSearchHook and drops several files in Common
files\WinTools\ created by itself. This program may have been
intentionally downloaded and/or stealthily
installed along with Gain, Gator, or Claria.

To uninstall WinTools Adware:
- Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. Turn
off System Restore in Windows XP/ME if you do
not want to backup files you are going to
delete.
- Click Start > Run, type
regedit and click OK.
- Go to the subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run,
delete the values "Wintools",
if exists.
- Find and delete the subkeys {87766247-311c-43b4-8499-3d5fec94a183},
{a8deb4a5-d9ef-4d21-b4f6-921475004e7d},
{63B78BC1-A711-4D46-AD2F-C581AC420D41} and
entries with Wintools from
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ and HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.
- Click Start > Run, type RegSvr32
/u %ProgramFiles%\common files\wintools\wtoolsb.dll
and click OK.
Note: %ProgramFiles% is a variable that
refers to the program files folder. By
default, this is C:\Program Files.
- Clean up your hosts file:
On Windows
95/98/Me: C:\Windows\hosts
On Windows NT/2000/XP Pro: C:\Winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
On Windows XP Home: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
- Remove %programfiles%\WinTools directories.
Note: %ProgramFiles% is a variable that
refers to the program files folder. By
default, this is C:\Program Files.
However, a few of registry entries
may be left
behind deleting. You can ask for Spyware Doctor
to clean up.
