MemoryMeter Description:

MemoryMeter is program offered for download and sold by a company called TotalVelocity. MemoryMeter meanwhile allows you to monitor your system's memory usage and warn you when this usage is too low. A nice little program except for the loss of privacy involved. There are several shareware programs on the market that accomplish the same thing without the privacy breach.

"By using the Software, you may be exposed to contaminated files, computer viruses, eavesdropping, harassment, electronic trespassing, hacking and other harmful acts or consequences that might lead to unauthorized invasion of privacy, loss of data and other damages. Furthermore, by installing the Software on your computer, you understand that: (i) certain system non-personally identifiable information, including statistical data, stored on your computer will be made available and transmittable to Total Velocity servers or the servers of affiliated companies of Total Velocity; (ii) other information available now or in the future including links, services, messages advertisements, cookies and the like may be installed on your computer and; (iii) Total Velocity may automatically transmit to and install on your computer, Software improvements, corrections, adaptations, conversions to more recent Software versions or any other changes to the Software, with or without giving notice."

MemoryMeter also asks your year of birth, zip code, and sex before fully installing.

Follow these steps to remove MemoryMeter from your machine. Begin by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a mistake.

1. Kill these running processes with Task Manager:
   msmgt.exe
   programfilesdir+\memorymeter\memorymeter.exe
   systemroot+\tvmd.exe
   systemroot+\tvtmd.exe
   
2. the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run.
   If you find the value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\memorymeter, delete it and reboot the machine immediately.
   If you find the value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\msmgt, delete it and reboot the machine immediately.
   If you find the value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\tvmd, delete it and reboot the machine immediately.
   If you find the value HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\run\tvtmd, delete it and reboot the machine immediately.
   
3. Unregister these DLLs with Regsvr32, then reboot:
   systemroot+\addyc.dll
   systemroot+\addyu.dll
   systemroot+\downloaded program files\memorymeter.dll
   systemroot+\msknwrd.dll
   
4. Remove these registry items (if present) with RegEdit:

5. Remove these files (if present) with Windows Explorer:

   systemroot+\addyu.dll
   systemroot+\cmuninstall.bat
   systemroot+\downloaded program files\memorymeter.dll
   systemroot+\downloaded program files\memorymeter.inf
   systemroot+\msknwrd.dll
   systemroot+\tvmd.exe
   systemroot+\tvtmd.exe
   tv.txt
   
6. Remove these directories (if present) with Windows Explorer:
   programfilesdir+\memorymeter
   
7. After following the instructions above, you will still need to restore your original settings and prevent this from happening again. Here's how.
