What
is the Beagle.gen worm?
Beagle.gen is a generic detection for the
W32.Beagle family of mass-mailing worms.
Common characteristics of the Beagle family
include:
- Collecting email addresses from the files on
your hard drive.
- Sending email messages to the collected
addresses, either containing the worm as an
attachment or containing an exploit to
automatically download and execute the worm on
the recipient's machine.
- Attaching the worm as an executable, or an
archive, or a password-protected archive.
- Opening a backdoor on infected computers.
- Terminating processes of antivirus and
security software.
- Attempting to spread through peer-to-peer
file sharing networks.
