Starware Recipe is a toolbar program that modifies a variety of browser settings. After the toolbar was installed and the changes were already made and no easy option given for undoing what had been, the following browser/system changes were made without properly obtaining user permission: default search engine changed to Starware, error and search pages hijacked.
In addition, Starware tracks user data. It does this under the auspices of 'travel search' and 'related search.'
Finally, Starware uses a complicated, confusing procedure for uninstallation that could leave the user's homepage hijacked.
